I didn’t feel well this past week. I must have picked up a bug that kept me in bed for three days! So… I had a lot of time to think… how beautiful and amazing it is to feel good and healthy. To get up in the morning feeling excited about the day ahead, to put on your shoes and go for a walk (or a run, or a combination of both) and feel invigorated. And then work and find fulfilment in helping people, and coming up with projects that will inspire and empower and maybe even help someone out there heal…

How beautiful and amazing that is… and how unattainable that feeling seems when we are physically sick… 🙁

Please take care of yourselves. (I did good… I stayed home, worked as I was able to and allowed my body to heal. I drank a lot of fluids and ate good food rich in vitamins.)
So, next Saturday, I’m participating in a full day of “Radiant Talks” – as a speaker and co-producer. One of our speakers is Dr. Leslie Shew – with a talk titled “The Truth About Stress.” It’s eye-opening. I’ll share it with you when the video is out.
Looking over her talk I was reminded me how much more we need to take care of ourselves.

So, here are my thoughts on self-care:

Be vigilant and mindful about what you put into your body – in my opinion, so much of the food in the States shouldn’t be allowed to be called food. Try to avoid processed foods and stuff that contains ingredients your grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food.

Move and exercise! My kids got me an Apple watch for my birthday… Let me just say that when we were in Croatia – and London, I hit all of my activity goals – because we walked everywhere! Here at home, I have to make a huge effort to meet those goals. Which only makes me more motivated to really do something about it.

Sleep! OK… I wrote about sleep before. Seven hours or more. Our bodies need that time to detox and replenish.

Find a practice that gives you a chance to be still – and slow down your mind.
Whether it’s meditation, or prayer, or watching birds, or sunsets, or listening to music… Do something calming every day.

Also, learn something new every day, to keep the brain cells growing. Adopt new habits – that also helps rewire the brain and keep it healthy.

And be inspired!

Speaking of music and inspiration… my friend John just edited a whole bunch of videos from our concert “Cowboys and Gypsies.” It’s quite nice! You can see the trailer here.
